• Data Analytics with R

With an objective of giving the young minds a platform to understand and learn the basics of data science using ‘R’ as a computing tool, Department of IT, KEC organized a workshop entitled ‘Data Analysis with R’ on 31st March to 9th April 2019 under IEEE student branch of Krishna Engineering College, Ghaziabad.

Resource person of the workshop Mr. Sri Raman Gopalan from Mumbai a renowned name in the field of data analysis. Students of IT always challenge themselves to practice, reflect on their work, learn, and lead as a better professional across various activities in academia. The workshop was conducted in association with DEVARTY Technologies.

Data science is all about transforming data into business using mathematics and algorithms. ‘R’ is one of the most commonly used languages among data scientist. R is a dynamic language and environment for statistical computing that combines the features of object oriented and functional programming. It provides a wide variety of highly extensible statistical and graphical techniques. R is an Open Source suite for data modeling and is the choice of researchers in statistical analysis.

The R programming language has become an important tool for computational statistics, visualization, data science and predictive modeling. It is used to solve challenging problems in fields like computational biology, quantitative marketing and finance. It is an integrated suite of software that effectively handles data analysis and storage, performs calculation on arrays, integrates collection of statistical analysis tool, and operates as a general matrix calculation toolbox. They can also make use of user-created packages which allow specialized statistical techniques, graphical devices (ggplot2), import/export capabilities, reporting tools, etc.

The objective of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for students to interact with leading persons in statistics and data analytics. This workshop aims at meeting a growing need in Data Analytics among the students. It will give them a comprehensive overview of R in Data Analytics, projects/research related to it and a hands-on experience in applying them.

  • Gate coaching class for IV year students

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.

    Higher education,
GATE score is used for admissions to various Post-Graduate Education Programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian Higher Education Institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies.

Apart from higher education, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian Public Sector Undertakings for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions. It is an opportunity for the students to create them as dynamic Engineers to face the competitive world by enhancing their employability skills.

Many public sector undertakings such as BHEL, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), HPCL etc., (there are PSUs totaling 217 in number) are using the GATE score for selecting candidates for their organizations.

    GATE Coaching Classes at KEC,
Krishna Engineering College provides dynamic training to interested students for GATE exam daily after the college hours. Currently, Mr. Pramod Sethy conducting GATE coaching classes for final year students in order to brush up their technical skills for higher studies and Campus Recruitment.

  • Internet of Things

Department of IT organized 60 hours’ workshop for the students on Internet of Things from 01st March to 10th March 2019 under IEEE student branch of Krishna Engineering College, Ghaziabad.

Students of IT always challenge themselves to practice, reflect on their work, learn, and lead as a better professional across various activities in academia. Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming ubiquitous with edge sensor nodes getting more and more intelligent and capable to transmit their information directly to a cloud and also get controlled /actuated from the cloud. The pervasive nature of hooking anything to the internet which was not thought previously opens up a new era of imagination and deployment for a connected world with endless possibilities.

  • Nasscom

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is a trade association of Indian Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing industry. Established in 1988, NASSCOM is a non-profit organization.

Arise By Aricent’ To Impart Employable Skills To Engineering Students

Under this program, the students are trained in the qualification pack for software developers, as developed by the Sector Skills Council NASSCOM. This on-campus program will engage with 16 Tier-2 and Tier-3 engineering colleges providing the necessary job skills to students from underserved communities. In order to increases the employability of the students, the department of computer science and engineering/ Information Technology, KEC has organized a 60 days internship program for final year students during 20118-2019 on JAVA programming Totally, 159 students registered and successfully completed the NASSCOM course on JAVA. The candidates will be assessed on the NDSC- SSC NASSCOM Qualification Packs (QP) and certified for the relevant job roles, further enhancing the chances of employment.
