Under this scheme Ph.D. pursuance from university/ college of repute is being promoted.
Faculties who wish to pursue Ph.D. will be encouraged & will be given special incentive for the same. The faculty desirous of pursuing Ph.D. must obtain permission from the college. It has been decided that henceforth following guidelines shall be followed for awarding incentive on attainment of Ph.D. qualification by the faculty:
Incentive - For Engineering Faculty
Faculty completing their Ph.D. degree shall be entitled to three non- compounded increments If the Ph.D. is in the relevant branch/discipline and has been awarded by a university of repute complying with the process prescribed by UGC for enrolment, course work, evaluation etc.
On acquisition of Ph.D. degree, individual need to raise an application for the incentive along with the notification / provisional degree through HsOD & Dean (A) to HR. HR will process the case for final approval to the Director through Research Council. All the approval & incentive would be communicated by HR via e-mail to the individual and Respective HoD.
Eligibility Conditions for Ph.D. Incentive
The entire incentive will be given from the day of notification & will also be based on the kind of publishing work (minimum three (03)) in Journals of repute like IEEE, ACME, IETE or foreign journal / foreign held conference.

Grouping of University/Institutes
For all Incentives, OD, fee reimbursements the Universities have been grouped in A, B and C as given below:
Group A: IITs | IISc, Bangalore | JNU
Group B: NITs | Central Govt. Universities | IIITs
Group C: State Govt. Universities.
Universities/Institutes of repute e.g. Thapar Institute, BITS Pilani, BIT Mesra etc. which follow UGC norms for Ph.D., can also be considered after pre-approval by the management of KEC on case to case basis. These universities / institutes preferably must be in existence for at least three decades in the field of higher technical education.
All other cases will be examined case to case.
OD will be given to faculty registered in A, B, C category University only in lean period. A maximum of 12 ODs in a year can be given with maximum 3 ODs in a month and OD will not be clubbed with other holidays.
Fee reimbursement for A, B, C Group University will be made subject to satisfactory progress upto Rs. 15,000 /- per semester for 3 years (extendable by 1 year in special case).
Migration to good University
To facilitate acquisition of Ph.D from a well reputed University which follows norms in accordance with UGC guidelines and with good credentials, it has been decided that faculties who are already enrolled may be granted one chance to migrate to good University, if they desire to.
OD Facility: Ph. D. Programme
1. For availing OD facility to pursue Ph.D. Programme, the faculty must have rendered at least six months of service in KEC.
2. If Ph.D. work falls during summer break, then faculty must consume their summer vacation first (two weeks) and rest will be treated as OD (maximum up to 7 days).
3. OD will be given to faculty registered in A, B, C category universities only in lean period. A maximum of 12 ODs in a year can be given with maximum 3 ODs in a month and OD will not be clubbed with other holidays.
Fee-Reimbursement: Ph.D (Faculty)
i. For fee reimbursement of Ph.D. course, the faculty must have rendered six months of service in KEC.
ii. Fee will be reimbursed semester-wise.
iii. Fee reimbursement for A, B, C category universities will be made subject to satisfactory progress; upto Rs. 15,000 /- per semester for 3 years extendable by 1 year in special case.
iv. Receipt of tuition fee for higher qualification be forwarded by concerned faculty/Dep’t. with in a month of the date of fee deposit. No request later than this period will be entertained. Application to be routed through HoD & Dean (A) to HR. HR will process the case for final approval by Director through Research Council. All the reimbursement approval would be communicated by HR via e-mail to the individual and respective HoD
v. To continue availing the Ph.D. facilities, Progress Report as per the prescribed format should be submitted in the Office of Research Council (HR) every year in the month of January and July.
